Creating an Upgrade and Save Offer on Cart

There are 3 use cases of this ability:

  1. Product X -> Product Y
  2. Product X (small jar) -> Product X (medium jar) -> Product X (large)...
  3. All Products -> Product Y

Example of use case #2:

We will revisit this later, but first I will illustrate the setup process.

Setup Guide:

Go to Placements, Cart > Cart Content and Turn on Upgrade and Save Offers.

Go to Journeys Page. On a New Journey, Under Cart section, add an Offer.

You will see an option for Upgrade & Save.

Settings:

1 - Click and add the Product Upgrade you want to show.

  1. Product title for Upgrade (you can change this later)
  2. Header (you can change this later)

Click done when you're ready.

Click the pencil button OR edit placement to view the preview.

You can see the header and product titles you wrote earlier.

Use the pencil button and make modifications to the Header & Product Titles where necessary.

Congratulations you now know how an Upgrade and Save offer looks like on the cart. Next, comes the strategy and implementation element.

The main things to note:

  1. Which use case are you setting up?
  2. Setup Journey
    1. Condition (read further below)
    2. Pick Upgrade Product
    3. Product title text
    4. Header (optional)

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Remember to Save and Enable the Journey for it to show on your store

Your Cart Placement must also be LIVE + Shopify Theme must have our App Toggle ENABLED too for the whole setup to show on your store.

Setting the Rules for your Upgrade Offers

via Journey Condition

Setup your Condition accordingly to your use case

  1. Product X -> Product Y
  2. Product X (small jar) -> Product X (medium jar) -> Product X (large)...
  3. All Products -> Product Y

For use case #1,

Set Journey condition as Product in Cart IS = Product X all variants

Upsell Product = Product Y (all or single variant)

For use case #2,

Set Journey condition as Product in Cart IS = Product X for 1 variant only (eg. small volume product)

Upsell product = Product X (variant you are trying to push)

As we built it 1 to 1, if your product has 3 variants (eg. single pack > double pack > large pack)

End result will involve creating multiple journeys ( S>D) (D>L) to get the intended effect.

For use case #3,

Set Journey condition as Product in Cart IS NOT = Product Y

Upsell Product = Product Y (all or single variant)

(reason: we want to filter out showing Y when Y is already in cart)

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Remember to Save and Enable the Journey for it to show on your store

Your Cart Placement must also be LIVE + Shopify Theme must have our App Toggle ENABLED too for the whole setup to show on your store.
