How to setup Product Page (embedded) Upsells?

Embedding upsells on your product page is a great way to improve your Average Order Value (AOV) if you don't want pop-ups in your customer journey. We recommend placing these under the Buy Now button on the product page.

Adding embedded product page upsells to your store can be easily done by following the steps below:

Configuring embedded upsells in the app's dashboard

  1. Go to the app's dashboard, click on the Placements tab, and select Product Page.

Here, you will see three main tabs: Content, Theme, and Settings.

  • In the Theme tab, you can customize all the widget colors. Make sure to enable the toggle to see the changes reflected in your store.

  • The Settings tab will allow you to add translations for the upsell title and add-to-cart button.
  • In the Content tab, you can select Header to customize the header's text or Upsells to set up the layout design of the upsells, the number of upsells to show, and customize the wording of the savings text and the add-to-cart button.

Under the Upsells menu, you will also find some additional functionalities like:

  • Show compare at price: This feature displays both the original price and the discounted price of a product, helping customers easily see the savings.
  • Products are selected by default: This option automatically selects certain products for customers when they visit your store, streamlining their shopping experience.
  • Import Product Reviews from Okendo: This function allows you to bring in customer reviews from Okendo, showcasing authentic feedback and ratings on your product pages to build trust and assist purchase decisions.

You can configure your upsells by creating Journeys or using Automated Fallback Offers.

For the Automated Fallback offers, you have two options:

  • Use Shopify Recommendations: Uses the Shopify API to recommend a product.
  • Use Lifetimely recommendations: If you have also installed our Lifetimely app, you can use it to create automated upsells.

Once you are done with your configurations, make sure to Save the changes and enable the Placement's toggle:


Enabling embedded upsells in your theme.


Now that we have set up our upsells in the app's dashboard, it's time to enable the app on your theme so the widget shows correctly on your store.


First, we will need to access the theme editor. You can do this using the Enable in theme button on the app's placement:

Or go to your Online Store-> Themes and click on customize on the theme where you want to add the widget:

Once inside, follow these steps:

  1. Enable the app embed:

  1. In the Page dropdown, select Products ->Default product template (or the template you want to use).

  1. In the left sidebar, click on Sections and look for the Product Information section under the product Template. When scrolling between the blocks, you will see the option to Add a Block:

  1. Look for the Upsell by AMP block under the Apps tab and click on it to add it.

  1. Save your changes, and that's it. Your upsells should now be showing on your store!
